Abstract

1330582 Fibre reactive dyes CIBA-GEIGY AG 19 April 1971 [21 Jan 1970 9 Dec 1970] 20122/71 Heading C4P The invention comprises reactive dyes of formula wherein Z is a fibre-reactive group; U is a halogen atom; X is H, NO 2 , SO 3 H, acylamino or halogen; are of Y 1 one Y 2 is H and the other a sulphonic acid group; R is an aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic radical with not more than 10 carbon atoms which is optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms and/or alkyl groups and/or water solubilizing groups. Z is preferably a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic reactive radical with at least 2 hetero-atoms and bonded to R via an amino group. The dyes may be prepared by reacting an azo compound of formula with an amino H 2 N-R 2 or an amine H 2 N-R-V where V is an amino group or a replaceable atom or a group which can be condensed with a compound containing a fibre reactive radical Z. Alternatively an azo compound of formula may be reacted with a 1,3,5-triazine derivative of formula or the corresponding unmetallized dye may be treated with a copper-donating agent by known methods. The dyes may be used for dyeing and printing diverse materials, e.g. wool, silk, leather, polyamide fibres or cellulose-containing fibres, e.g. cotton, on which they give blue shades. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,019,771.
