Abstract

1329947 Rotary positive - displacement pumps SPERRY RAND CORP 27 Jan 1972 [30 April 1971] 3823/72 Heading F1F In an hydraulic gear-pump a cavity 12 for the gears 14 contains a C-shaped liner 24 made of resilient sheet-material such as steel and coated on its side next the gears with a material e.g. aluminium, which on contact with the gear teeth produces low friction and wears into a close fit therewith. The shape and resiliency of the liner facilitates its insertion and retention in the cavity. The gap in the liner gives access to an outlet passage 20. An inlet passage 16 has branches 18, 22, the central branch extending to an opening in the liner between depressions 28 on the inner side of the liner. The depressions are said to improve the tooth-space filling efficiency.
