Abstract

1329436 Fluid-pressure servomotor control systems CUPEDOS OCTROOI MIJ N V 10 Nov 1970 [10 Nov 1969] 53477/70 Heading G3P A main valve 2 in a pipeline 1 e. g. for natural gas, is closed automatically in the event of leakage by a device connected through a connection 4 to the pipeline. The device comprises a pressure vessel 23 connected through a non-return valve 9 with the connection 4, the non-return valve being by-passed by a flow restrictor 20. Opposite sides of the non-return valve are connected to opposed ends of a double-diaphragm actuator having two diaphragms 36, 37. This actuator operates a vent valve 54 to release pressure from one end of a piston valve 64 which moves to a position where it connects a pressure inlet 70 to an operator 85 of the main valve 2, and simultaneously closes a return line 69. As shown, the diaphragms act through stems 40, 41 on a spring-biased lever 42 engaging the vent valve 54. The pressure is vented into a space surrounding this lever and thence through clearances round the stems 40, 41 to the spaces on the inner sides of the diaphragms which open to atmosphere through holes 33'. The restriction 20 is formed by a helically coiled tube. The loading spring 46 is adjustable.
