Abstract

1329103 Stencils CARL FREUDENBERG 3 Aug 1970 [29 Aug 1969 18 Sept 1969] 37407/70 Heading B6C [Also in Divisions B1-B2 and D2] A filtration screen e.g., for a paper-making machine, carries a pattern of impermeable deposits of a synthetic polymeric material on a woven screen having a single layer of warp and weft threads which are from 100Á to 400Á in diameter and from 20 to 40 threads warp and weft per centimetre, the area of each aperture being from 0À5 to 5 sq. mm. The deposits are preferably printed on to the screen, e.g. forced through the perforations of a printing roller or applied to the depressions of a stencil roller against which the screen travels, and are of a thixotropic composition, e.g. comprising polyvinyl chloride or silicone rubber, containing a foaming agent and subsequently heated. The screen may after use have the deposits dissolved off it and a different pattern of deposits printed on it for further use. The deposits are resilient and are raised above the screen by at least 0À5 mm. In an example of a suitable composition for forming the deposits on the screen a printable paste is formed from 50 parts by weight polyvinyl chloride, 50 parts benzyl butyl phthalate, 2 parts finely divided silica and 4 parts of a thiatriazol foaming agent.
