Abstract

1327445 Rolling mills MOELLER & NEUMANN GmbH 18 Nov 1970 [22 Nov 1969] 54788/70 Heading B3M A rolling mill stand includes a base 12, four columns 14, spacer sleeves 22, and a fixed top plate 18, these parts being prestressed together by tie rods 20. A beam 16 is vertically guided on the columns and controls the screw-down movements of the upper rolls 23 and 27. The beam is adjusted by rotating toothed rings 36 by means of gearing 42, 44 and rotors 50, the rings being threaded on to the sleeves 22. Bending cylinders 34 extend respectively between the ends of the backing rolls 23 and 24 and the beam 16 and frame 12, to control flexure of the rolls. The rings 36 are normally urged axially against the sleeves 22 by cylinders 38 positioned between the top plate and beam 16. The pressure exerted by the cylinders is relaxed, however, when screw-down adjustments are to be made.
