Abstract
1326418 Apparatus for stripping cathodes MONTEPONI and MONTEVECCHIO SpA 10 Nov 1970 [10 Nov 1969] 53485/70 Heading C7B Apparatus for stripping electrodeposited metal from cathodes comprises means for displacing the movable guard-piece that prevents deposition over part of the cathode, means for detaching the upper edges of the metal layers comprising at least two wedges arranged to travel across the cathode and stripping means including at least two blades. Cathodes are moved from conveyor 1 to conveyor 7 where they are clamped in position. Forked member (19) is advanced and rotates pivoted guard-piece (10) so exposing the join between cathode and deposited metal. Wedges 30 are advanced along the line of the top of the cathode so peeling back the electrodeposited metal. The wedges 30 are withdrawn and the stripping blades 12 are lowered by pistons 25 and the electrodeposited metal is removed from the cathode. The metal is collected in a skid beneath the apparatus. The stripped cathodes are then passed on to conveyor 15 and returned to the electrolytic cell.
