Abstract

1326190 Locks M TURATTI 19 Oct 1971 48610/71 Heading E2A [Also in Divisions B7 and G4] In a steering-column lock of pin-tumbler type, the barrel housing has two independent sets of tumblers so as to permit withdrawal of the key and shooting of the locking bolt 14 in two different locking positions A, B, one providing for auxiliary electric circuits via switch 8, and the other not, and in addition, a switch 24, 25 is closed in these positions when the key is in position and causes an alarm to be given when the drivers door is open. The locking bolt 14 is withdrawn against spring 14a by an axially acting cam surface acting on an abutment 146 on the tail 15 of the bolt. When the key is in position, the bolt is held retracted by a radially sliding plug 21, held up by the back of the key, and abutting through a spring-loaded ball 19 on a lip 18 on the bolt tail. A pin 23 closes the contacts 24, 25 when the key is in position. In garage position C, the bolt is held back and all circuits are OFF.
