Abstract

1324756 Reciprocating pumps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 26 Jan 1972 [3 Feb 1971] 3695/72 Heading F1A In an axial piston pump, including a casing 1, splined drive-shaft 3 and a rotating cylinder block 6 containing longitudinal bores 8 in which pistons 9 reciprocate due to the bearing of their sliding shoes 10 on an inclined swash plate 11, the kidney shaped inlet and outlet apertures 24 and 25 for a pressure medium provided in a valve plate 21 communicate with the openings 16 of the rotating cylinder bores 8. Opposed bores 30, 31 are provided in the web portions of the valve plate between the apertures 24, 25, which bores 30, 31 are inter-connected by a duct 33 formed in part by a sealed groove 34 on the inner periphery of the valve plate. The diameter of each bore 30, 31 is no greater than the distance between the openings of adjacent cylinder bores e.g. 8a, 8b, whilst the arcuate length of each web between the apertures 24, 25 is not less than twice the maximum width of the openings into the cylinder bores plus the diameter of a bore 30 or 31. Therefore, in operation of a pump with an odd number of cylinder bores, pressure medium in the deed volume of any bore, e.g. 8f, passing from the high to the lowpressure side of the pump, successively pressurises two bores, e.g. 8b, 8a, passing from the low to the high-pressure side, as these cylinder bores communicate via bores 30, 31 and duct 33. In a pump having an even number of cylinder bores, each bore similarly pressurises just the opposed cylinder bore as it passes from the high to the low-pressure side of the pump.
