Abstract

1322893 Coating apparatus MOLINS MACHINE CO Ltd 7 July 1970 [10 July 1969] 34786/69 Heading B2L Apparatus for coating flexible sheets with adhesive comprises a roller 22 which picks up adhesive from a groove 18 in a housing and transfers it to a roller 24, the roller 22 having pitted areas 30, 32 to receive the adhesive and the roller 24 having rubber portions 34, 36 which project from the surface and enter into the pitted areas 30, 32 to collect adhesive prior to transferring it to the workpiece. Adhesive is fed from a reservoir by a pipe 16 into the top of groove 18 and excess material from the groove 18 or rollers 22, 24 returns to the reservoir by means of a sloping surface 28. Doctor blades may be provided to remove excess material from the surface of the roller 22.
