Abstract

1321862 Castors ALWAYSE CASTOR CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [29 Jan 1970] 4246/70 Heading A4U [Also in Division B8] A bearing unit comprises a freely rotatable loadbearing ball 14 located in a metal body which includes a metal ring 17 having resiliently deformable lugs 18 which are releasably retained by snap engagement with the edge of an aperture 22 in a conveyor table 21. The body comprises an annular metal pressing 12 having a flange 16 swaged over the abutted edges of the ring 17 and of a metal pressing 10, having a dome 11 to accommodate the ball. The lugs 18 are bent along their length to ' form straight, divergent portions 19, which after being pressed through the aperture, spring outward to abut the lower edge portion of the plate surrounding the aperture. Ball bearings are provided between the dome 11 and the ball. The apertured plate may form part of the under surface of an article of furniture and, in a modification, the aperture is a blind hole the resilient lugs being in frictional gripping engagement with the interior wall of the hole.
