Abstract
1321728 Cryogenic gas discharge in heat exchangers AIRCO Inc 25 June 1971 30025/71 Heading F4P A hot gas heat exchanger for vaporizing cryogenic liquids comprises a manifold 22 for spraying water into a stream of hot gas from a jet engine 10, the water reducing the temperature of the gas stream and being vaporized before contacting a coiled passage 16 containing liquefied natural gas. The liquefied gas is thus vaporized and discharged at 44. The gas stream-water vapour mixture provides an increased mass heat transfer medium which, due to the water reducing its temperature, lessens the chances of an explosion. The manifold 22 comprises two concentric tubes each having spray apertures (Fig. 2, not shown),
