Abstract
1320631 Burner with fuel and air swirlers MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK and KUREHA CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO Ltd 18 Aug 1971 [18 Aug 1970 (2)] 38687/71 Heading F4T A gas burner in a first embodiment shown in Fig. 3 comprises a mixing duct 121 formed in a ceramic body 123 and having a stepwise enlarged outlet chamber 122, a fuel gas swirler in the form of a ring manifold 120 and inlets 124 which deliver fuel gas tangentially into the duct 121; and an air inlet 118 which supplies combustion air part of which is delivered via ports 112 and an adjustable nozzle 115 axially and without swir] into the duct 121 while the remaining part is delivered into the duct via a swirler 119 for mixing with the gas and subsequent ignition. To maintain the flame within the chamber 122 the proportion of non-swirled air is adjusted by means of an apertured inner sleeve 116 which is rotated by a mechanism 117 relative to the apertured side wall of the nozzle 115 to adjust the effective area of the apertures. In an alternative embodiment shown in Fig. 1 all the air is swirled by swirl vanes 7 and the gas is introduced via swirl vanes 9. The invention may be used with other than gaseous fuels.
