Abstract

1316531 Roof racks; rear-view mirrors MHE (DONCASTER) Ltd 12 Nov 1971 52570/71 Heading B7J [Also in Divisions F4 and H1 A device for fastening e.g. a lamp, roof rack, bracket or number plate to the body of a vehicle comprises a sheet of ductile material e.g. soft aluminium or mild steel bendable by hand to fit the surface, and a flexible e.g. rubber sheet 2 (Fig. 1), overlapping the same, and a second sheet of ductile material 3 arranged as a sandwich and clamped by bolts and nuts 5; strips 4 of rubber admixed with powdered barium ferrite being adhesively bonded to the underside of sheet 2 and the strips being permanently magnetized. Alternatively (Fig. 4, not shown) the ductile sheet is directly bonded adhesively to the magnetic rubber strips. The device is also applicable to the fixture of a rearview mirror or a radio aerial. The flexible sheet may be of rubber interleaved with double textile material.
