Abstract

1316139 Animal feeder E PARSONS & SONS Ltd 21 June 1971 [29 June 1970] 31432/70 Heading AIM [Also in Division G3] An animal feeder comprises a poweroperated feed distributor controlled by a timing mechanism. The feed distributor may have a variable outlet. As shown in Fig. 1, the distributor comprises a plate 20, having radial vanes 22 and an off-centre agitator 26, which is rotated by a motor 24 controlled by a timing mechanism 30. Grain from a hopper 10 is thereby flung over a wide area. A bell 34 is also activated by the timer mechanism 30 during, or just before, feed distribution. Timer mechanism A pin on a clockwork timer closes a microswitch activating the motor 24 for a time determined by an adjustable resistance-capacitance circuit. This circuit supplies, after a predetermined delay, a triggering voltage to a thyristor thereby opening relay contacts causing the current to the motor to be cut off.
