Abstract

1312355 Compositions comprising algae KOHLENSTOFFBIOLOGISCHE FORSCHUNGSSTATION EV 24 July 1970 [28 July 1969] 35992/70 Heading A2B [Also in Division A5] A composition for dietic purposes for the treatment of protein deficiencies, more especially for raising the serum protein level in an animal, comprises dried planktonic sea and/or fresh water algae, a carrier substance and/or a nutrient or medicinal substance. The composition may be prepared by obtaining the algae from culture liquid by filtering or centrifuging, briefly heating the algae to a temperature sufficiently high to destroy the cell walls of the algae and any bacteria and mixing with the algae a carrier, or nutrient.
