Abstract

1307023 Drafting systems ZELLWEGER Ltd 30 July 1970 [9 Dec 1969] 36829/70 Heading D1N In a drawing frame having three pairs of rollers 3, 4 and 5 and a condenser 1 a measuring element in the condenser 1 senses the cross-sectional area of fibre passing therethrough and produces a signal which corresponds to the deviation from the desired area. This signal controls the speed of a motor 8 driving additional rollers 6 which vary the draft of a small number of the delivered slivers to reduce the deviation. Two motors or clutches (21), (23), may be employed, Fig. 2 (not shown), driving rollers (20) and (22) at a constant speed, the delivery being controlled by completely stopping either or both motors in response to the signal from the measuring element. The measuring element may alternatively operate an alarm in response to which the motors (21), (23) are controlled manually.
