Abstract

1306143 Releasable conduit couplings M SEBASTIANI 16 Feb 1970 [20 Feb 1969] 7357/70 Heading F2G A releasable conduit coupling comprises first and second coupling parts 1, 2 and an annular elastic sealing member 5 disposed within the first part, the member having a lip 5<SP>1</SP> which on fitting together of the parts sealingly engages the inside surface 9 of the part 2 and has an edge effecting a scraping action on this surface as the two parts are coupled together. In the embodiment shown the surface 9 and lip 5<SP>1</SP> (in the uncoupled state) both flare outwardly to increase the scraping effect and castellations 2<SP>11</SP> are provided for receiving foreign matter. The coupling parts are provided with dentate projections 3, 4 for fixing to hose ends and may be secured together by a bayonet joint (Fig. 3, not shown), a screw cap arranged on part 2 engaging external threads on part 1, or external threads on part 2 engaging internal threads on part 1.
