Abstract

1304592 Printing apparatus DE LA RUE GIORI SA 21 April 1970 [21 April 1969] 18875/70 Heading B6C A rotary intaglio machine comprises to printing units I, II, connected by a sheettransfer mechanism which takes sheets from a first impression cylinder 3 and either passes them to a second impression cylinder 4 to receive a second impression on the same side or reverses them in transit so that they are fed to the cylinder 4 with their printed sides inward and receive an impression on their other sides. The transfer mechanism may include ink drying means 12, 13, a dampening chamber 15 and cooling means 16. Each of the printing units I, II may include a gravure cylinder 1, or a cylinder carrying gravure plates, and these may be inked in a plurality of colours by patterned forme rollers. The gravure cylinders or gravure plates may have surfaces which carry an inkrepelling wetting agent, so that ink is retained only in engraved lines, and may be contacted by dampening apparatus in place of a doctor blade.
