Abstract

1302287 Chlorocyanopyridines IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES 30 June 1971 [21 July 1970] 35280/70 Addition to 1041906 Heading C2C 3-Cyano-2,6-dichloro-, 2,4,6-trichloro- and 2,5,6-trichloro-pyridines are prepared by chlorination of 3-cyano-pyridine in the vapour phase at elevated temperature using more than two moles chlorine per mole of 3-cyano-pryidine. Optional catalysts are silica, alumina, silicaalumina and carbon. The products may be used in the preparation of fungicidal, pesticidal or herbicidal compositions.
