Abstract

1301866 Building panel HUTOGEPYAR and EPITESTUDOMANYI INTEZET 29 Sept 1970 [17 Oct 1969] 46228/70 Heading B5N [Also in Division E1] A prefabricated box type structure comprises a plurality of panels each of which includes an outer skin 7, an inner skin 8 and a core 9 rigidly secured between the skins, each outer skin 7 being provided with external ribs 10 which extend longitudinally of, and are spaced from the edges of the panel, and an end flange 12 unsupported by the core 9 and extending substantially normally to the ribs 10, adjacent panal members being connected together solely by one or more channel shaped connector(s) 4 which is/are rigidly secured between a rib or flange of one panel and a rib or flange of the other panel. The inner skin 8 may also be provided with ribs 9 which extend into the core and may be shorter than the core. The flange 12 may be planar or bent 12a. The end faces of the panel may be bevelled. In a roof 3 the panels may be connected so that adjacent panels include alternately an acute and an obtuse angle and in this case modified connectors 5a, 5b are employed. In an embodiment (Fig. 5) the panel comprises a continuous inner skin 8 with two core and outer skin portions whereby the panel may be folded. The panels may be rectangular or trapezoidal with a length to width ratio of 3 : 1 or more. The skins 7, 8 may be of galvanized steel, aluminium or wood and the core 9 may be a honeycomb or a foamed plastics, or e.g. polyurethane.
