1398700 Pneumatic conveyers COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 31 Dec 1973 [11 Jan 1973] 60242/73 Heading B8A Material enters a gas tight vessel from a tank, gas under pressure enters the vessel below a horizontal porous partition and material entrained by gas leaves the vessel through a duct in the upper portion thereof. In the figure, as part of a device for the production of a beam of neutral particles or multiply charged heavy ions by neutralization of charged particles of an incident beam or addition of charges to said particles, powder is contained in tank 16 and enters vessel 2 by gravity via valve 19. Porous wall 8 may be made of sintered glass. Compressed gas enters from source 10, passes through the wall 8 and entrains powder through duct 20 and into pumping column 22 from which the powder emerges as an accelerated and focused stream to intersect a particle beam 42.
