Abstract

1397783 Unsaturated esters and thiol esters ZOECON CORP 30 Aug 1972 [8 Dec 1971] 32614/72 Addition to 1368267 Heading C2C Novel aliphatic esters and thiol esters of formula where Q is and each of R<SP>7</SP> and R<SP>15</SP> is alkenyl (2-6 C), alkynyl (3-6 C) or cyclopropyl; Z is chloro or the group -OR in which R is hydrogen, carboxylic acyl (1-6 C) or alkyl (1-6 C), each of m and n is zero or 1, 2 or 3, each of R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> is alkyl (1-6 C) and R<SP>14</SP> is hydrogen or methyl are prepared by esterification of an acid or acid halide of wherein R<SP>1</SP> is hydroxy, bromo or chloro with an alcohol (R<SP>7</SP>-OH) or the reaction of the acid halide with R<SP>15</SP>.SH. Examples describe the preparation of prop-2<SP>1</SP>-en-1<SP>1</SP>-yl, but-3<SP>1</SP>-en-1<SP>1</SP>-yl, but-3<SP>1</SP>-en-2<SP>1</SP>- yl, but-2<SP>1</SP>-en-1<SP>1</SP>-yl, prop-2<SP>1</SP>-yn-1<SP>1</SP>-yl, but-3<SP>1</SP>-yn-1<SP>1</SP>-yl, and cyclopropyl 11-methoxy-3,7,11-trimethyldodeca-2,4-dienoate; of prop-2<SP>1</SP>-en-1<SP>1</SP>-yl and prop-2<SP>1</SP>-yn-1<SP>1</SP>-yl of 11-hydroxy-, 11-acetoxy- and 11-chloro-3,7,11-trimethyldodeca-2,4-dienoates; and prop-2-en-1<SP>1</SP>-yl, prop-2<SP>1</SP>-yn- 1<SP>1</SP>-yl, and cyclopropyl 11-methoxy-3,7,11-trimethyl-thiol-dodeca-2,4-dienoate. The compounds are useful for the control of insects.
