Abstract
1395562 Sealed reed contact devices WESTERN ELECTRIC CO Inc 21 Sept 1972 [23 Sept 1971] 43673/72 Heading H1N A contact device includes a pair of elongated nickel-iron reeds 12 disposed with their tips in overlapping relationship and sealed in a glass envelope 11 in which the glass-to-metal seal between each reed 12 and the envelope 11 is at a surface of the reed which is covered by a layer 14 of silver of a thickness in the range of 60 to 175 microinches, preferably 120 microinches. The device is suitable for use in a high-frequency A.C. circuit where surface conductivity is important and reeds 12 coated with silver may have the layer 14 removed at the contact areas which may be coated with contact material such as a gold-silver alloy.
