Abstract

1394538 Endless-track vehicles CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 17 Sept 1973 [20 Sept 1972] 43590/73 Heading B7H [Also in Division E2] An endless track assembly has a plurality of pairs of links 14, 14<SP>1</SP>, connecting adjacent ground-engaging shoes 11, 12 and being interconnected by pivot means comprising a tubular pin 17 mounted in a cylindrical bushing 16 and means forming a plurality of bearing surfaces between pin and bushing and forming a plurality of lubricant-retaining grooves therebetween. The bearing surfaces are formed by diamond shaped knurls (21), Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), formed on the outer surface of the pin or the inner surfaces of the bushing, and forming therebetween helically-extending grooves (20); or the grooves may extend axially and circumferentially. The pin has a passage 22 closed by threaded plugs 23 and charged with lubricant which communicates with the bearing surfaces through radial ports 24. The links 14, 14<SP>1</SP> are secured to the bushing and the pin respectively
