Abstract

1394505 Buoys; mooring INDUSTRIEELE HANDELSCOMBINATIE HOLLAND NV 1 June 1973 [9 June 1972] 26305/73 Headings B7A and B7S A mooring buoy comprises two members 2, 6 which are relatively rotatable about a vertical axis 16 and one of which is buoyant. Rigid coupling arms 3 are formed integrally with one of the members and extend therefrom for direct connection to a buoyant structure, e.g. ship 1, or a pontoon. Means are provided for connecting the buoy to an anchoring assembly in the seabed. In the embodiment shown, member 2 is buoyant and is formed with two arms 3 which are also buoyant. Member 6 is a ring rotatable on bearings 5 and carring anchor chains 9. Ship 1 is attached to the buoy by a horizontal pivot 4 as shown. The buoy may accommodate a pipe-line 15 which is connected via universal joints 10, 11, 12 to a pipe-line 13 on the sea-bed.
