Abstract

1393099 Fuel injection pumps CAV Ltd 13 Sept 1972 [21 Sept 1971] 43907/71 Heading F1A The internally lobed cam ring of a rotary distributer fuel injection pump is produced as a continuous ring and is cracked longitudinally before being assembled into a cylindrical recess 11 in the pump body part 10. The crack allows the ring to expand into increased frictional contact with the recess 11 due to forces applied thereto by rollers 21 on the ends of the pumping plungers 14. This reduces the force transmitted to a piston 21 for angularly adjusting the ring. The crack may be formed at the bottom of a V-groove 35 cut in the outer periphery of the ring 17, the groove intersecting a recess 36 for receiving a pin on the piston 21.
