Abstract
1392225 Pipe couplings CREUSOT-LOIR- and E SPRUNCK 13 June 1972 [29 July 1971 18 Oct 1971 2 May 1972] 27549/72 Heading F2G [Also in Division F4] A multiple feed tuyÞre assembly for a converter comprises at least two coaxial tubes 4, 11, the or each inner pipe 11 being longer than adjacent surrounding pipe 4 and having at least one annular seal 17 arranged to be compressed between two clamping pieces 10, 16 on the pipe, one of which forms a supply chamber for the outer pipe, and the outermost pipe 4 co-operates with a surrounding sleeve 3 secured to the converter bottom plate 1 and has a seal 5 between the sleeve 3 and a nut 6 screwed into the sleeve and a second seal 7 between a nut 8 and the supply piece 10 for the outer pipe. An elbow 20 supplying fluid to the inner pipe has a removable cap 21 at the bend and coaxial with the tube so that the state of the inner tube may be examined. The cap 21 may have a transparent eyepiece. The outer pipe 4 and sleeve 3 may be provided with a closure cap 22, Fig. 2, so that the outer pipe may be held in place while the converter lining 2 is formed or renewed. Flanges are embedded in the converter lining to prevent leakage round the outer pipe and to hold it in place, and studs may be formed on the inner pipe to locate it within the outer pipe. In a converter having several tuyÞres, the feed to each tuyÞre is separately adjustable.
