Abstract

1391183 Walls; squash courts W J M HAINES 29 Dec 1972 [17 Feb 1972] 7389/72 Headings E1A and E1B Walls of a games court comprise slabs 7a of aerated or lightweight concrete held together by nuts 21 engaging screw threaded members 20 projecting from the panels and compressing the vertical panel edges together. Each member 20 may as shown be a bolt in a bore 11 or may be a bolt embedded through the full width of the panel, the edges of the slabs also having blind holes for receiving dowels which assist in aligning the slabs. An epoxy resin binder may be applied to the abutting faces of the slabs. At a corner bores 14 are provided through the slabs 7b at right angles to the main faces thereof, the bores 11 for the bolts being at a different height in this wall. Three pairs of bores are preferably provided in each slab. The floor of the squash court is provided with a channel holding guide means which cooperates with means on the panel to ensure vertical alignment. Screw threaded holes or bolts are provided in the top edge of the slab for securing a beam along the top of the wall and for attaching lifting hooks. The panels may be made of two layers of lightweight concrete with a thin inner layer being coloured white. The slabs may have edge grooves which when abutted for a dovetail channel in the face or faces of the wall, those on the playing surface being filled with lightweight mortar of the same composition as the slabs. The tensioned bolts may be grouted into the bores 11 when the wall has been erected.
