Abstract
1390981 Anaerobic digesters SOC ANON POUR LE COMMERCE ET LES FABRICATIONS INDUSTRIELLES 20 March 1972 [23 March 1971] 12840/72 Heading C1C An anaerobic digester comprises, in one embodiment, separate fermentation acid settling chambers 1, 2 covered with hollow covers 7 made of flexible synthetic material (e.g. butyl rubber), impermeable to fermentation gases. Conduit 3 supplies liquid to chamber 1, pipe 4 discharges purified liquid and conduit 5 discharges settled sludge. Pipe 6 removes fermentation gases which can be used to produce heat to be applied to chamber 1. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), an annular fermentation chamber surrounds a settling chamber and the chambers are covered by a common cover 7.
