Abstract

1388973 Toy building sets A FISCHER 21 May 1973 [30 May 1972] 24083/73 Heading A6S [Also in Division E2] A toy building plate has a hole with an adjacent cut or slot which allows the adjacent part of the plate to bend elastically. When a re-entrant tenon on another toy building component has its head snapped through the hole, the adjacent part of the plate bends and then springs back so that the hole closely surrounds the neck of the tenon. In one form, a toy building plate 3 has a series of holes 4 to receive headed studs 2 on another building plate 1. Slots 7 extend from diametrically opposite sides of the holes 4 to cross-slots 8. Resilient tongues 9a are thus defined by the slots 7, 8 and the edges of the holes 4, which flex readily as the headed studs 2 are pushed through. As a modification, corrugations (10), Fig. 3 (not shown), parallel to the axis of each hole, may be formed around the edge of each hole, to mate with complementary corrugations (10'), Fig. 4 (not shown), around the necks 5 of the headed studs 2. The holes may also be used to journal shafts &c.
