Abstract

1388775 Reciprocating pumps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 5 Feb 1973 [25 Feb 1972] 5674/73 Heading F1A In a swash-plate pump comprising a rotary cylinder block engaging a ported valve plate, Fig. 1 (not shown), the inlet port 29 is dimensioned and located such that the angle of rotation during which each cylinder port 31 is connected to the inlet port extends 5 degrees-20 degrees beyond the bottom dead centre position 34/UT, and begins 5 degrees-10 degrees before the top dead centre position 34/OT, to ensure complete filling of the cylinders at high rotation speeds. In Fig. 3, the control edges of the inlet port 29' and cylinder port 31' are arcuately shaped as shown to provide a maximum flow cross-section immediately prior to closure of the cylinder port from the valve port. In Fig. 4 (not shown), the control edges are straight and extend radially of the rotation axis.
