Abstract
1388237 γ-Halo-#-ketoesters FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 12 June 1973 [13 June 1972] 28005/73 Heading C2C γ-Halo-#-ketoesters of the general formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP>, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl alkoxy or alkoxyalkyl group, or they are connected to each other to form a ring; R<SP>3</SP> is an alkyl or optionally substituted aryl group and X is a halogen atom, are prepared by halogenating a #-ketoester of general formula In the examples ethyl and n-butyl-α-bromoisobutyryl acetate, ethyl α-bromo-isohexyl acetate and ethyl-α-chloro-isobutyryl acetate are prepared. α - (N - morpholino)isobutyryl acetate is obtained by reacting α-bromo-isobutyryl acetate with morpholine. Colour coupler α - (α<SP>1</SP> - (N - morpholino) - isobutyryl] - 5 - [γ - (2,4 - di - tert - amylphenoxy)- butyramido] - 2 - chloroacetanilide is prepared by reacting α-(N-morpholino) isobutyryl acetate with 5 - [γ - (2,4 - di - tert - amylphenoxy)- butyramido]-2-chloroaniline.
