Abstract

1388052 Capacitors ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 26 May 1972 [27 May 1971] 24830/72 Heading H1M An A.C. capacitor comprises plastics foil strips metallized by vapour deposition and wound into roll 1 secured by caps 13, 14 within casing 10, and a cut-out comprising a harddrawn fusewire 26 secured at one end to end contact layer 23 on the capacitor roll and at the other to terminal rivet 19, the wire having a diameter of 0À15 to 0À3 mm. and an elongation at breaking, measured over a 10 mm. length, of 3 to 5%, the wire further being sufficiently long to function as a fuse-wire and being guided round batch 27<1> in bead 27 which acts as a tensioning means to provide the necessarily shorter breaking length. The wier, preferably at least 10 mm. long, may be silver or silvered or silver-plated copper. The wire is broken between 23 and 27 when excess heat causes shrinkage of the plastics foil or it may be from layer 23. Alternatively, it may break between 27 and 19 when corrugation 15 is opened by pressure of generated gases, or it may fuse when excess current develops. The wire may be clamped in notch 27<1>.
