Abstract
1383482 Discharging shaft pressures THYSEEN NIEDERRHEIN AG HUTTENUND WALZWERKE 15 Feb 1973 [23 Feb 1972] 7388/73 Heading F4B Discharge apparatus for a shaft furnace, particularly for sponge iron, comprises at least one shoot 7 connected to a discharge outlet 4, an intermediate bunker 8 connected to the shoot, a funnel 9 connected to the bunker and a flexible connector 10 between the funnel and a transport container 2, closures 11, 12 between the shoot and the bunker, and between the bunker and the funnel, and means for purging the container 2. The shoot 7 and bunker 8 project into the top of the bunker 8 and funnel 9 respectively, their bottom edges forming seats for part-spherical flap valves 11, 12 of the kind described in Specification 1,383,163. The shaft furnace has a discharge outlet at either side of a discharge table 5, and a discharge shoot assembly at each side. Each container 2 has an inlet 13 for purge gas, and each funnel 9 or flexible connector 10 has an outlet 14 for the purge gas. The flexible connector 10 engages a flange at the top of the container 2, and the opening of the flap valves and admission and discharge of the purging gas may be controlled automatically.
