Abstract
1383354 Silencing gaseous flow BOLT BERANEK and NEWMAN Inc 12 Sept 1972 [13 Dec 1971] 42243/72 Heading F1B A fluid medium flowing through a duct I is silenced by passage between a plurality of longitudinally extending sound-absorbing baffles 3 and the provision of chambers 7 communicating with the duct through sound-absorbing duct walls 5. The baffles 3 and walls 5 permit the passage of sound therethrough. The baffles 3 may extend in a direction perpendicular to the walls 5, Fig. 4 (not shown). Frequencies from 20 Hz to the upper end of the audio range are silenced and the spacing and length the baffles 3 may be small and large respectively compared to the wave length of the high frequencies silenced. Silencing gas turbines is mentioned in the Specification.
