Abstract

1378021 Iron-on interlinings CARL FREUDENBERG 11 Jan 1972 [11 Jan 1971] 1292/72 Heading B2E [Also in Division D1] An iron-on interlining comprises a non- woven fabric having a discontinuous coating of thermoplastic material, the fabric comprising a bonded web of fibres which are predominantly synthetic organic fibres having at least 20 crimps/cm and which are predominantly arranged in one direction, the web having been bonded by a binder that has been impregnated into the web and then cured or vulcanised. Preferably staple polyamide polyolefin or other synthetic fibres having 20-50 crimps/ cm and optionally including up to 30% uncrimped natural or synthetic fibres are carded to give a web in which at least 80% of the fibres are orientated. The web is impregnated with a foamed aqueous dispersion of a self cross linking polyacrylate or a latex of acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer. The discontinuous coating of 15 to 60 g/m<SP>2</SP> polyamide, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride or polyvinyl acetate is applied by printing in a geometric pattern or as a powder or thermoplastic rods orientated in the fibre direction. The coating is gelled or sintered by heat. For reinforcing jackets the interlining is ironed on with the predominent fibre direction horizontal.
