Abstract

1376696 Calendar timepieces DAINI SEIKOSHA KK 21 Dec 1972 [28 Dec 1971] 59083/72 Heading G3T A stem 16 has three axial positions, viz. (i) an inner, winding, position Fig. 1 in which a clutch wheel 10, which is slidably mounted on and rotatable by the stem, engages a winding pinion 19; (ii) a middle calendar-correcting, position Fig. 2 (not shown) in which rotation of wheel 10 rotates, via a setting wheel 12, an intermediate wheel 13 and a gear 7, either date dial 15 or day wheel 8; (iii) an outer, hand-setting, position Fig. 3 (not shown) in which wheel 10 engages wheel 12 which engages a minute wheel 11, the arrangement being such that, to avoid unintentional rotation of the minute wheel during the movement of the stem, the wheels 10, 12 are disengaged before wheel 12 engages wheel 11, wheels 10 and 12 being subsequently re-engaged. Axial movement of stem 16 rotates a setting lever 2 having a dowel 2d, which positions a spring 17, and projections 2e, 2f which respectively engage a clutch lever 18 in positions (ii) and (iii) of the stem. Lever 18 is in engagement with clutch wheel 10 and is biased counter-clockwise by spring 17. Lever 2 has an aperture 2a which is engaged by a pin 1a on a setting wheel lever 1, on a resilient arm 1e of which are mounted wheels 12 and 13. As the stem is pulled out from position (ii) to position (iii), firstly projection 2e disengages from lever 18 which is urged by spring 17 to disengage wheel 10 from wheel 12; secondly spring 17, urged by dowel 2d, engages a projection 1g of lever 1 to bring wheel 12 into engagement with wheel 11, and finally projection 2f engages lever 18 to bring wheel 10 back into engagement with wheel 12. The gear 7 of the calendar correcting mechanism is mounted on one end of a swing lever 14, the other end of which frictionally engages the shaft of wheel 13, and can move along the length of an aperture 1d in lever 1. Clockwise rotation of stem 16 causes wheel 6 of gear 7 to engage a wheel 9 which corrects the day wheel 8. Upon counter-clockwise rotation of the stem, wheel 6 engages date dial 15 which is thus corrected.
