Abstract

1375192 Rigid sails A H G MURRAY 6 Jan 1972 [8 Jan 1971] 13710/74 Divided out of 1375191 Heading B7V In a sailing craft the freely rotatable rigid sail assembly 16, 17, 18 (Fig. 1, not shown), is controlled by an auxiliary vane 21 which is rotatable about an upright axis. The position of the auxiliary vane is controlled by elements which include an adjustable stop device limiting the angular movement of the vane and which may be a shaped link sliding in the vicinity of a proud pin on connecting rod 34. A wind strength sensitive device which may be a plain drogue or cup controls the adjustable stop to reduce the range of movement as wind strength increases.
