Abstract

1374017 Laminates SCOTT PAPER CO 28 Sept 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 44900/72 Heading B5N Sheets of acrylic or polyester resins are laminated by a method which includes the step of pressing a sheet of the resin against a piece of paper having an easy release surface, wherein the release coating comprises polyvinylalcohol and up to 20% of methyl cellulose based on the weight of the polyvinylalcohol. In the examples (1) paper is coated with an aqueous composition containing polyvinylalcohol and methylcellulose. This is pressed against a polyester resin prepeg which is supported on chipboard in a press. The assembly is removed and the paper peeled off; (2) paper is similarly coated and pressed against two superimposed sheets of polyester saturated kraft paper in a press and the release paper stripped off; and (3) a similarly coated paper is pressed against a layer of acrylic resin supported on an asbestos board impregnated with a vinyl resin, in a press and the release paper again removed from the assembly.
