Abstract
1371211 Extrusion coated cable BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd 13 Sept 1972 [13 Sept 1971] 42563/71 Heading B5A [Also in Division H1] In a cable comprising two or more parallel and coplanar conductors 11 at least one of which has insulation 12 and a rubber or plastics covering 14, the covering has a uniform wall thickness over a major part of its periphery, encloses the conductors in a single bore and has a crosssection made up by arcuate end parts 16 joined by re-entrant, intermediate parts 17. As shown both conductors are individually insulated and are separated by an earth conductor 19. Cover 14 is not bonded to the conductors or the conductor insulation so that stripping of the cable is facilitated. The cable is formed by passing the conductors through the core tube of an extrusion head, extruding the cover thereabout and establishing a pressure gradient across the cover wall, e.g. by evacuating the core tube, to cause the cover to collapse about the conductors. A legend may be indented or embossed on an arcuate portion of the covering.
