Abstract
1366165 Phenyl - O - methyl - O - (2,5 - dichloro-4-iodophenyl) thionophosphonate CIBAGEIGY AG 24 Sept 1971 [25 Sept 1970 4 Aug 1971] 44724/71 Heading C2P [Also in Division A5] The novel compound phenyl-O-methyl-O-(2, 5 - dichloro - 4 - iodophenyl) thionophosphonate may be prepared by reacting phenyl thionophosphonic acid dichloride or dibromide with methanol and 2,5-dichloro-4-iodophenol, in any order, either in the form of salts or in the presence of an acid binding agent. The compound of the invention has insecticidal and acaricidal properties, but has a low toxicity towards bees and mammals, and may be used as the active ingredient in conventional pesticidal compositions, optionally together with other pesticides. The invention also comprises the compound of the invention in a container which bears instructions for combating insect pests and pests of the order Acarina at a locus which is a plant bloom or the plant shortly before blooming while not harming bees.
