Abstract
1363944 Multiple door fastenings GERMANY MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT 5 Jan 1972 482/72 Heading E2A In a door-locking mechanism primarily for vehicle bodies or transport containers of the type including one or more axially-turnable rods which carry swivel bolts at both ends, which bolts engage into fastening pieces on the door frame when the rod is turned by a lever into a locking position, the swivel bolt has a release edge 18 which abuts, in the last section of the unlocking path, against the outer wall 11 of the fastening piece, and surfaces 16, 17 of the swivel bolt are inclined towards each other at their outer ends, but inwards they extending approximately parallel to each other. The invention is applied to a door 2 Fig. 2 of a transport container on which a rod 1 is rotatable in bearings 3 (one not shown). The fastening piece 5, shown in elevation in Fig. 2, in section in Fig. 6 and in plan in Figs. 7, 8, embodies a fastening cam 8 above which is a bead-like rib 9, Fig. 8, the rib having upper and lower surfaces 13a, 13b, respectively, which diverge from each other at a position corresponding to the beginning of the locking path, but beyond this position extend mutually parallel; the fastening piece also is pierced by an aperture 10. The swivel bolt 4 has a finger 14 with which a bolt rib 15 is integral; surface 16, mentioned above, together with the bolt rib 15, ensure correct vertical positioning of the door 2 in the fastened position, Fig. 2, while surface 17, (together with a corresponding surface on the underside of finger 14) ensures that the tip of the finger does not contact the walls of aperture 10. The bolt 4 is hollowed out between rib 15 and the "support" surface 16 to accommodate the bead-like rib 9 of the fastening piece 5. The locking direction for bolt 4 (locking downwards as in Figs. 6 to 8) is counterclockwise. For locking, rod 1 is rotated by the lever (not shown) into a position such that finger 14 embraces with its point the outer edge of cam 8 (Fig. 5, not shown); on further rotation finger 14 slides inwardly along cam 8, Fig; 6. In the final phase, the inner edge 19 of the bolt, lying between rib 15 and surface 16, comes into contact with a curved support surface 12, Fig. 7, of the rib 9 of the fastening piece 5. The region of contact between these surfaces is so positioned relative to the arc of movement 21 of the axis 20 of the rod 1 that inside pressure on the door produces no opening torque. The smooth outer surfaces of the assembly, Fig. 7 minimise soiling or ice-formation. During unlocking, a stage is reached, Fig. 8, where release edge 18 on the bolt makes contact with the outer wall 11 of the fastening piece 5, this contact serving as a fulcrum about which the bolt may be pivoted to release the door if it is stuck.
