Abstract

1363417 Loading vehicles with containers &c WBS KEILLOR Ltd 6 Dec 1971 [15 Sept 1970] 43909/70 Heading B8Q An apparatus on a vehicle for loading and unloading a load carrier comprises cross-beams 1 on which the carrier is supported, and to which the carrier is releasably secured by means 17, 18 adjacent the ends of the cross-beams, and hydraulic rams 5 for raising and lowering cross-bars 7 forming part of the cross-beams, the load carrier being taken on or removed from the cross-bars in their elevated position, by the provision of alternative support means for the carrier. With the load carrier supported on the ground by four detachable plug-in legs, the vehicle is driven under the carrier and the crossbars 7 raised until the carrier is lifted, the carrier being positioned by wheels 26 thereon rolling into recesses 8 in the cross-bars, whereafter the legs are detached and the cross-bars lowered. Turnlocks 17, 18 are then raised into sockets in the load carrier by turning levers 22 and then locked by turning levers 20, the load carrier being then ready for transport. The rams 5 are double acting and powered from a manual or electrical pump, the cross-beams being stabilized in movement by guides 27.
