Abstract
1358849 Selective signalling; detecting passage of vehicles PLESSEY CO Ltd 6 Aug 1971 [25 Aug 1970] 40898/70 Headings G4H and G4L To facilitate the location of a digital identity signal in a repetitive transmission of that signal, one of two predetermined signals alternately separate adjacent identity signals. A five-bit binary signal is repeatedly sent from say a car to a central tariff control, or a railway waggon to a marshalling control. Adjacent signals are separated alternately by a 1 or a 0 bit. At the receiver (Fig. 2) the data stream enters a 7-bit register and detection by comparator 13 of the simultaneous presence in register positions 1 and 7 of a 1 and 0, or 0 and 1, operates decoder 15 to read out bit positions 2- 6, or alternatively or additionally operate gate 16 to read out the next 5 bits.
