1356982 Automatic control systems MELYEPITESI TERVEZO VALLALAT 4 June 1971 [13 June 1970] 19118/71 Heading G3R In a system in which a plurality of process variables are controlled by a like number of detectors and correctors by sequentially switching a single two or three point controller, disturbance caused by switching transients is prevented by providing a delay device after the controller so that the correctors do not respond until after the transient condition has terminated. The variables (unspecified) of a liquid 1 fed continuously into and out of a tank are measured and the corresponding signals on lines 4, 5, adjusted as necessary at 6, 7, are sequentially switched at 8 to an amplifier 9 and thence to an indicator 10 and controller 11. 12 is the delay unit whose output is switched, also at 8, to correctors, e.g. valves, 13, 14. The controller 11 effectively operates by pulse width modulation since it produces a pulse from the end of the delay until the output of amplifier 9 reaches a predetermined value, and this depends upon the time constant of the amplifier (its output changes exponentially from the end of the transient) and the magnitude of the measured variable.
