1353663 Bromo glycidyl ethers CIBAGEIGY (UK) Ltd 27 Jan 1972 [28 Jan 1971] 3424/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Novel compounds of formula where R is H or methyl, and R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> each represent H or C 1-5 alkyl, or R<SP>1</SP> with R<SP>2</SP>, and/or R<SP>3</SP> with R<SP>4</SP>, together represent -(CH 2 ) n - where n is 4-6, which may be substituted by methyl, may be prepared (a) by reacting the unsaturated bromo diol with a chlorohydrin, or (b) adding Br to the corresponding acetylenic diglycidyl ether. The starting material for (a) is prepared by method (b), and vice-versa.
