Abstract
1353517 Granulating metals WHITTAKER CORP 12 May 1971 [17 July 1970] 14457/71 Heading C7X Material is granulated from a second electrode 46, whilst rotating it and moving it towards a first electrode 26 by a lead screw 68. The electrode 26 has a removable tip 26' which may be replaced by a glove 36 sealed in the wall 12 of the chamber, through which inert gas is circulated. When the second electrode has been largely consumed, it may be replaced by a third electrode 80 which may be axially aligned with the second electrode and then moved forward to push the remaining part of the second electrode into the chamber. Corresponding ends of the electrodes may have a pin and hole to enable the electrodes to be fixed to each other Fig. 5, (not shown). The second electrode passes through a seal 40 Fig.6, (not shown) and is supported by a rest 42.
