Abstract

1351569 2-Alkyl-4-alkoxy-5-morpholino-3- (2H)-pyridazinones MORISHITA PHARMACEUTICAL CO Ltd 15 May 1972 22618/72 Heading C2C Novel compounds of the Formula I wherein R 1 is alkyl and R 2 is alkoxy may be prepared by reacting a 4-halo compound II wherein X is halogen with the appropriate alkali metal alcoholate. The intermediates II in which X is chlorine may be prepared (i) by cyclizing mucochloric acid and hydrazine hydrate to yield 4,5-dichloro- 3(2H)-pyridazinone which is reacted with morpholine to yield 4-chloro-5-morpholino-3(2H)- pyridazinone which is N-alkylated to yield a compound II or (ii) by reacting morpholine with a 2-alkyl-4,5-dichloro-3(2H)-pyridazinone. Pharmaceutical compositions of I with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier may be used for the treatment of catarrh.
