Abstract

1351401 Valves G A FELTON 18 Jan 1972 [29 Jan 1971] 2451/72 Heading F2V A fluid-pressure actuated valve having a biasing spring 3 is provided with a plunger 4 screw-threaded in a support 5 and moved longitudinally by rotation of an external knob 7 on a shaft 6 which co-operates via a worm with a skew gear portion of the plunger. The closure member 1 can thus be locked in closed position and have an adjustable open position. The closure member is formed of metal, or an epoxy resin or polyvinyl chloride reinforced by glass or carbon fibres 11 secured to a peripheral ring 12. Instead of the fibres 11 passing over the centre portion they may be joined to a central ring. Hole 8 in the plunger or external grooves in the support 5 control the flow of escaping fluid from chamber 9 to clamp the opening movement of the closure member.
