Abstract
1350199 Pipe couplings T LAITY 10 Feb 1972 [10 Nov 1970] 53377/70 Heading F2G In a coupling, e.g. of an exhaust pipe 13 to an exhaust manifold 12, collars 1, 2 pass freely over the enlarged pipe ends 14 and 17, but can be clamped against these ends, on interposing collets 5A, 5B and 6A, 6B therebetween. The collets may each be split radially and sprung over the enlarged pipe ends or, alternatively, may each be made in two semicircular halves 5A, 5B and 6A, 6B. The external cross-sectional shape of each collet may be of stepped form (Fig. 5, not shown) with a serrated external surface to engage the internal surface of the hole in the respective collar.
